This seems typical; when witlesses want something and they think they can get a "deal" from you they'll buddy up, then once they've gotten what they want the shunning will resume.

I've experienced this many times; I'm still "in" but get treated by most in the cong. as if I weren't. Whenever one of the supposed "friends" want/need something from my store they suck-up (lots of attention and awkward side hugs) and want a "brotherly deal", since I NEVER give them one they go on about their business and by the next meat-ing won't even look me in the eye. The very few times I've done something nice for a fellow witless I gotten crapped on (raked over the coals) for it, so I learned long ago to never go out of my way for them.

Also maritime laws/rules state that you are only required to assist if you are able to without injuring or harming yourself or your property, in other words you don’t have to help if it means making two problems instead of one AND only if you are already on the water. In your friend’s situation the Coast Guard should have been called, if they were stranded due to a mechanical malfunction then they may not have been charged for the rescue, but if they were in trouble due to stupidity then maybe calling the CG would have been a good lesson.

Stupid people shouldn’t be boaters, if they can’t be safe and responsible they’ve got no business being in a boat and maybe a few hefty bills from the CG would keep these assholes off the water; because lord knows that requiring boater safety classes and cards/licenses isn’t changing anything.

according to christendom/jehovah`s witnesses in particular , the greatest man who ever lived,had the means at his disposal,to write down everything he had to say for the benefit of all mankind ,jew and gentile,and he never availed himself of this priveledge .rather most of what he had to say, according to the bible, was lost,no one recorded all he spoke ..he was quite content to leave it up to a few, who would put his words to pen,many of which were not eyewitness accounts to his deeds.,but received the information secon-hand.

if the almighty god jehovah and his son jesus christ were in anyway serious, wouldn`t they have made this" so important" message available to all mankind ?

jehovah does not test us, or try to trip us up with strange un-biblical teachings.

i can remember how the merits of avoiding blood, were in full swing during the heavy metal big haired days of the 1980s.. we were told how lucky we were, that we would not be contracting "hiv-aids", "hep-c" some other rare blood disorders, this made us look like we were ahead of the paradigm, this even made sense and we felt good about it.

I use to try to read them but just couldn't keep up the routine, they're just so gawd awful.

I don't know many who actually read them thoroughly either; there's a reason why you can hear crickets chirping during the service meeting whenever they have parts that review the mags, or even the months placement. Sure you might get a few colorful comments, but the reason why hands aren’t flying up is NO ONE has read them, and chances are at least half in attendance hadn’t looked past the cover or even opened the mag until that night.

your elders and ministerial servants are just men, not prophets, not appointed by holy spirit, they are human beings like you.. you attribute or impute some quality to us that does not exist, we are not any close to god than you are.

the training we received did not prepare us for the kinds of situations we were thrown into.

so last friday we had our regular visitor over.

one of the single brothers from my former hall.

we were decent friends when i was still attending meetings, but since my departure we don't have a lot in common.

I feel your pain; witlesses use such distorted circular arguments that, whenever my Mom starts talking wash-towel nonsense, I get motion sick just listening.

BTW I think nailing Jello to a wall is much easier than reasoning with a dub; at least Jello has defined properties and limits, a dub not so much, no scratch that none, they have none at all.

I don't know how many will leave per say, but I wonder how many kids will stop believing (eventually leave) because their parents watched the DVD and then forced them to throw out a bunch of prized/cherished possessions?

We make fun of the video but at least Caleb's mom was somewhat nice about it, all the born-ins know that is not reality. Most devout parents will guilt, browbeat, yell, lecture, scream, discipline and/or physically beat their children for doing what Caleb did, and if the child doesn't respond they'll take matters in their own hands and just toss the kid's stuff out without permission.

This video is going to do a fine job of turning children away from the borganization; what a fine witness it is.
